Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the French league champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times late to seize a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
