Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the group understands precisely where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd close behind.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each character has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a hostile place.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the party access places they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them little choice but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Questers and Schemers tables.

Audiences can look forward to finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
